UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Forgiving God, we confess that we try your patience with our inconsistencies.  We expect you to forgive our deepest sins, but are unwilling to forgive the petty sins of our brothers and sisters, our neighbors and friends.  We recount for those closest to us the number of times they have offended us, but forget the numberless times you have forgiven us for a wide range of sins.  We want justice for our neighbor’s misdemeanors, but mercy for our own felonies.  We do not have the same tolerance for others as we have for ourselves.  Forgive such unevenness, merciful God.  Amen.

Our Vision Wall Has Changed!

Nurturing persons in Christian Living is the fourth action point of our proposed Mission Statement.

Our Vision Wall question for this month is in two parts.

How are we doing today?    Where can we improve?

Check the Vision Wall this morning on your way to coffee after the service.  Review the input that you have provided so far and be sure to answer this month’s questions using the white answer cards located at the wall or on the tables in Fellowship Hall.

Your Vision Team would like to know what You think.

Calling All Men

On Thursday, September 26, 2002 our church will be hosting a “Men’s Gathering.”  We have sent out invitations to more than 40 churches to join us from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. for fellowship and a showing of the Tony Campolo Video, “What Kind of Men Does Wesley Expect?”  Four of us went to Purdue University a year ago for the United Methodist Men Congress and heard Tony give this talk.  We liked it so well, we bought the Video.  We hope you will join us, along with other men from our area for this special evening.

The Grand Traverse District United Methodist Women’s Annual Meeting will be held here on Tuesday, September 17.  Our District Superintendent, Lynn Pier-Fitzgerald, will be the speaker.
